JITO Ahmednagar - Rights and Benefits of Jain Minority Status

A seminar on Rights and Benefits of Jain Minority Status was organized on 6th May by JITO Ahmednagar Chapter as a promotional event. Advocate Yogesh Mehta, the subject expert on the Rights of Minorities, who is also currently the Chairman of Minority Cell Rest of Maharashtra Zone & JITO Pune Chapter, was specially invited for conducting the seminar. Advocate Yogesh Mehta explained to the audience in minute details the Rights to which the Jain community became entitled to, under the Constitution of India, in view of conferment of the minority status on the Jain community, by the Central Government. In the seminar the distinction between “Reservation” and “Minority” status was brought home by citing constitutional provisions and the wide spread misconception and confusion prevalent in the community with regards to the same, was succinctly explained and satisfactorily cleared for the knowledge and benefit of the audience.  Various schemes floated by the Central Government and Maharashtra State Government for the welfare and empowerment of minorities were discussed, analyzed, and the mode and manner of availing the benefits under the said schemes was also explained to the audience. The seminar drew huge and extraordinary response with 800+ delegates attending the same. Mr. Gautamji Munot of JITO Ahmednagar Chapter and Mr. Vijayji Bhandari, the Chairman of JITO Rest of Maharashtra Zone & JITO Pune Chapter, took special efforts for organizing the same on a grand scale and for making it successful.
